How many grains hardness will my water softener treat?

Grains Hardness
What Does Grains Per Gallon Actually Mean?

The hardness limit for successful treatment is 25 grains or 427 ppm (mg/L) grains hardness for one PolyHalt® salt free water softener system.

If the hardness level of the water is beyond this level, PolyHalt® will work to form ion bonds with as much of the hardness minerals as possible. Whatever grains of hardness remains untreated from this first cartridge would be “free” hardness or untreated hardness.

In order to treat higher hardness levels simply use additional filters. For higher flow rates consider using the high flow commercial water softening systems that we offer.
